In Remembrance of
Matthew Scott Tiffany
June 2, 1970 - March 13, 2005
It has been five years since you
went away, you have been in
our hearts and minds each
and every day. I miss your calling asking me
"How's it going, Dad?" to chat
about whatever, such good
moments we had.
You wrote songs and music, what
a gift you left us all, "October
Mid, Tilt, Time Won't Wait, You
Made Me A Believer, Taken a
Fall,' You and Dan, the lyrics,
the melodies, the rifts.
Though you are gone, your loving
spirit still inward drifts.
As you are now shrouded in His
love, in His kingdom above.
You will always be remembered
and loved, as a Dad, son,
brother and friend.
Love, Dad, Mom and family

Of Our Son
BRENNAN J. HUFFMAN
Mom and Dad are lost without you son. The days go by, but son, please know there is no longer any pain. We forever will know that you are waiting for us there. Miss your beautiful smile, and your great sense of humor, as life was demanding of you. Please know we care and miss you every day that goes by without you by our sides. God will see us through this, but in our minds, hearts, and souls, we know you are
always here in our hearts. We will

In October 2009 the Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board (Workforce Board)applied to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) for Recovery Act funds to provide training inenergy efficiency occupations. As part of the grant application the Workforce Board sought funds to test a statewide approach tocoordinate green skills training for apprentices and journey-workers in Washington's building and construction trades (B&CT). The grant application described Workforce Board's intent for Build It Smart, The Building Trades Labor-Management Organization of Washington State, to provide green skills certificate training, averaging one week in duration, for journey-level workers and to add certified green skills toapprenticeship programs of over 15 participating Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees (JATCs). BIS would be required to train over 4,800 apprentices and journey-workers and provide $3,600,000 in leveraged funding. Training coordinated by BIS would be available to union and non-union workers through standing JATC agreements. The grantapplication identified $2,230,000 (100 percent federal funding) for BIS to manage and implement this training statewide. The Workforce Board believes that Build It Smart is in a uniqueposition to deliver, statewide, the expected training throughmultiple JATCs. Now that DOL has awarded the grant, and prior to awarding funds to BIS, the Workforce Board is issuing thislegal notice to inquire if there is another entity who has thecapability of delivering, statewide, certified green jobs training to B&CT union and non-unionapprentices and journey-workers through multiple JATCs and train participants and leverage funds at comparable levels. Entities wishing to submit a capability statement should notify the Workforce Board by 5 p.m. March 26, 2010. In absence of other qualified sources, it is the state's intent to have three local area Workforce Development Councils regionally administer BIS training contracts. For further information contact: Martin McCallum, Workforce Board, PO Box 43105, Olympia, WA 98504, Telephone (360) 586-0151, mmccallum@wtb.wa.gov

- MURRAY,
- Alberta Alice
Alberta was born Eileen Gray on December 17, 1916 in Calgary, Alberta. She was adopted by Abraham and Ada Hammond in 1918. Alberta Alice Hammond was raised on a farm one mile east of Malden, WA. She attended school in Rosalia and graduated from Rosalia High School in 1935. Upon graduating, she attended Kinman Business College and was hired by the Crescent in Spokane. Alberta was the mother of two sons, Richard and Miles Breneman from her firstmarriage to Chester H Breneman (deceased) and a third son, Dennis, from her second marriage to George N. Murray, (deceased). She is survived by her sons and their spouses, three grandchildren, Heath Breneman (Maria) and Meagan Heinen (Pat) and their spouses, and Madesen Murray, along with seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Over the years she raised her family on a farm in the Elk area, co-owned taverns in Malden and Colville, WA. She became very proficient as a pool playerduring that time and earned the nickname "Big Al". Upon retirement on acreage near Elk in 1977, she resided there after the death of George until 2006 when she moved to The Academy and was active there until shortly before her passing. In 1977 Alberta published the book she had worked on for a year. It is titled These My Children, which told the story of George's mother's family being adopted by the Coeur d' Alene Indian Tribe. Since her book is true history, a copy of it is in the U.S. Library of Congress and is used in schools around the area for local history. During her retirement years Alberta was a member of two Senior Citizens groups in Spokane. She held numerous officer positions in both groups. She always mentioned to her kids and grandkids that she taught "old people" how to dance. Alberta was always young at heart and young for her age. She continued writing in the form of letters to the Editor and was always signed off as Alberta A. Murray, Elk. Alberta always had a quick wit and a comeback response for any conversation. She was blessed with very good health and a sharp mind until passing. Alberta will be missed dearly by her family and all who met and knew her during her 93 years. Visitation will be held Friday, March 19, 2010 from 12 Noon until 7 PM, with a Vigil Service to follow at7 PM, both at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be heldSaturday, March 20, 2010 at 10 AM at the Jesuit House, 1106 N. Astor,Spokane, WA. - DAUGHARTY,
- Dale Irwin "Nick"
- (Age 72)
- Passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2010 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Memorialservices will be held at Noon on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Clark Fork Senior Center in Clark Fork, Idaho followed by a potluck dinner and private
- interment at the family plot at the Clark Fork Cemetery.
- He was born in the Page Hospital in Sandpoint to M.H. "Mike" and Irene (Lynge) Daugharty on November 8, 1937. He was raised in Clark Forkgraduating from high school in 1956. Following graduation he joined the United States Army where he received training as a helicopter mechanic. Three years later he was honorably discharged from his army duties thatincluded 18 months in Korea.
- Returning home he found civilian work as a helicopter mechanic with oil exploration companies in Alaska. While there he earned enough money tosupplement his G.I. Bill to attend trade school obtaining an A&E license in aircraft maintenance. This education was followed by employment withBoeing Aircraft Company.
- A massive labor reduction at Boeing in the early 1970s forced him to find employment with the classified staff in the Seattle School District. He soon became active in the local union becoming the Business Manager for Local 609 of the Operating Engineers. He remained in that position until hisretirement in 1997.
- Through union activities and his advocacy for workers rights he waselected to an office as a vice president of the Washington State LaborCouncil and eventually the President on the King County Labor Council that has over 70,000 members. As a Union President he dined with presidents, governors, senators and mayors, but much preferred the company of people who "worked for a living" in the cafes and establishments of Northern Idaho and Seattle discussing issues and matters of importance to them.
- He was asked to serve on several governmental committees by both state legislators and governors. However if you asked him about his greatestaccomplishment he would probably tell about being a member of the group that started the Washington State school breakfast program. The success of this program is directly related to a rise in academic achievement among Washington schools and an increase in children's health.
