This week, we’re driving Buick’s all-new mid-size 2012 Regal GS, with the “GS” taxonomy standing for “Gran Sport.” As for the GS heritage, car aficionados agree the legendary “muscle car” Gran Sport Buicks were built from 1965-1972, culminating in the magnificent 1970 GSX.

Richard Petty is, of course, The King of stock car racing, just as Roy Acuff was considered The King of country music and Elvis Presley of rock ‘n’ roll. Petty, who won nearly twice as many races (200) as anyone else in NASCAR history, remains a vibrant part of the Sprint Cup scene today.
